Chris Walker will return to the FIM Endurance World Championship this year, as the BSB legend links back up with the same ADSS97 squad he made his racing return with in 2023.
Owned by Chris Platt, who also rides for the team, the ADSS97 squad is one of the leading British representatives in the Endurance World Championship. This year, with Platt and Walker joined by former World Supersport rider Stefan Hill, it’s once again an all-British affair running the #97 Kawasaki ZX-10RR.
2024 will mark the team’s fourth year in the EWC, competing once again in the Superstock World Cup class, which the aforementioned Hill won in 2019.
On the announcement of ADSS97’s return to the EWC for 2024, owner-rider Chris Platt said: “The winter has seen lots of work behind the scenes on every facet of the team from the bikes to the race truck.
“Last year we had our first DNFs in EWC after five consecutive 24-hour race finishes, which were both due to fuel tank issues at Spa and the Bol d’Or. I’m pleased to say we enter 2024 with brand new fuel tanks and mount systems carefully manufactured by an aluminium fabrication specialist”.
Chris Walker, winner of the 1999 24 Heures Motos at Le Mans with Kawasaki, added: “It’s great to be back again at Le Mans for the 24-hour race. It’s a quarter of a century since I first raced it way back in 1999, so 25 years later I’m returning again to ride with the ADDS97 outfit. We had a fantastic race there in 2023 and for this season the bikes have been improved, we’re fit, strong and ready to take it on.
Finally, Stefan Hill said: “Last year I stepped in as a replacement rider to help the team at Le Mans and was made to feel immediately at home by everyone in the team plus of course the French and travelling British fans.
“The team is privately funded and the enthusiasm and knowledge from everyone is plain to see. 2024 has all of the ingredients for success and I really can’t wait to get started.”
The 2024 Endurance World Championship is set to begin with the 24 Heures Motos later this month on 20 April. The four-round calendar also includes the Spa 8 Hours (reduced from 24 hours this year over lighting concerns), Suzuka 8 Hours, and season-closing Bol d’Or.
