There are under two months until the beginning of the 2024 Isle of Man TT practice week, and as the first sessions of this year’s edition of the famous road race edges closer, start lists for each class’ seeded riders will be released. The first to be released this year has been for the Supersport class.
2024 will be the second year of the Supersport ‘Next Generation’ regulations at the Isle of Man TT, which sees the traditional 600cc four-cylinder intermediate machines balanced and competing against larger-displacement motorcycles.
It will mostly be a bunch of 600s to lead the Supersport class down Bray Hill this year, with Paul Jordan at the front of them all on a Honda CBR600RR. It will be Jordan’s first time leading the field away for a TT, as he makes his debut for the well-known Jackson Racing team.
Jordan’s Honda is one of three in the first four positions, with new Honda Racing UK signing Dean Harrison taking the #3 position, and Ian Hutchinson returning to the Milenco by Padgett’s Motorcycles team and resuming his usual #4 spot.
James Hillier will set off fifth on the Bournemouth Racing Kawasaki, before two Yamahas: Michael Dunlop in sixth on his own MD Racing-prepared R6, and Josh Brookes who will start seventh on the Boyce Precision Engineering by Russell Racing machine.
The first ‘Next Generation’ Supersport bike in the order, a Triumph Street Triple RS 765, will set off from second, ridden by Jamie Coward for the KTS Racing powered by Stanley Stewart Racing. The second larger-displacement bike will start from eighth: Davey Todd making his first TT appearances on a Ducati Panigale V2 for the Powertoolmate-backed effort put together by TAS Racing. Next Gen bikes round out the first 10 behind Todd, with Bathams Racing’s Craig Neve and K2 Trooper Triumph by PHR’s Peter Hickman both on Street Triples.
Conor Cummins will start from his usual 11th position for Padgett’s, before David Johnson on the Platinum Club Racing Kawasaki in 12th. Lee Johnston will start 13th as he and Ashcourt Racing make the switch to Triumph machinery from Yamaha in this class, while the second Russell Racing Yamaha of Mike Browne will start 14th, and Rob Hodson completes the first 15 on the SMT/Vehicle Recovery Services Yamaha.
Dom Herbertson will start 16th on the Burrows Engineering by RK Racing Yamaha, ahead of a trio of Suzuki GSX-R750s: first Gary Johnson in 17th, then Shaun Anderson in 18th, and finally 19th-starting James Hind. Michael Evans on the Smith Racing Triumph rounds out the first 20 Supersport starters for the 2024 Isle of Man TT.
