CFMoto has issued an official recall of the CFMoto 700CL-X Sport over ABS-related concerns.
Launched last year alongside the CFMoto 700CL-X Heritage and 700CL-X Adventure, the neo-retro-styled 700CL-X Sport brought additions such as clip-on bars and bar-end mirrors to the 700CL-X range.
The recall of the motorcycle was issued on the morning of 14 November and relates to all 2022 and 2023 model year units of the 700CL-X Sport. Since the first year the 700CL-X Sport was in production was 2022, it is possible to say that all 700CL-X Sport units have been recalled by CFMoto.
A statement by CFMoto said that people who have already had their bikes delivered are being notified via letter about the recall and request that owners of the bike “contact an authorised CFMoto dealer immediately.” CFMoto dealers can be located on the CFMoto website.
The fix to the issue seems to be a software update, rather than a complete abandonment of the current system.

“CFMoto has determined that the ABS control module on the 700CL-X Sport of model years 2022 and 2023 may require a software update.
“Rider safety is paramount to CFMoto and for that reason, a recall has been issued on the CFMoto700CL-X Sport model years 2022 and 2023, to address a concern linked to the ABS software.
“The affected vehicles may require a software update to mitigate excessive braking effort.
“Customers to whom the affected motorcycles have already been delivered are being personally informed by letter and are asked to contact an authorised CFMoto dealer immediately.”
