LOUIS Moto, the German brand behind Rekurv, has been in business since 1938 and is now one of the longest-running and successful motorcycle kit and clothing specialists on the planet. Their home brand Rekurv is aimed at the younger rider. The style is brighter, sportier, and the kit is at the more affordable end of the spectrum.
Rekurv C-10.01 Leather Combi Trousers
It’s not often I find a pair of trousers I can get on the first time with ease. As a card-carrying member of the “jump to put on jeans” club, it was nice to find these comfortable immediately.
The Rekurv C-10.01 Leather Combi trousers’ sporty cut combines with the stretch material on the waistband, crotch, calves and back of the knees reducing the amount of undignified squatting to ease off the leather before swinging my leg over the bike. Although the cowhide leather is at least 1.0 - 1.2 mm thick, and there is a double layer of leather on the knees and rear, I found I didn’t need to ‘break them in’ (i.e., sitting around the house in my kit as I did during during COVID).
These zipped to the jacket with ease (no sticking zips), and there are two zip options, an all-around and short connection. I preferred the all-around.
There are removable 4SEVN protectors on the knees and Super Shield protectors on the hips. Plus, ISO 4916 safety seams at the impact points. The knee protectors are adjustable, and the protection sat in the correct place on and off the bike. These are also knee-slider-ready.
When these are worn alone the legs slipped slightly and I found the back gaped (for reference I am 5' 6"). So when these are worn with the wrong jacket there was an annoying patch of cold on my lower back.

Rekurv C-11.01 Leather Combi Jacket
Like the Rekurv C-10.01 Leather Combi trousers, the cowhide leather is at least 1.0 - 1.2 mm thick, and there is a double layer of leather on the shoulders and elbows. It comes with short and all-around connection zippers (unsurprisingly, as they can be worn as a set). The elbow protectors are adjustable, but I found that they fit well without adjusting. There are ISO 4916 safety seams at the impact points.
The perforations on the front and back provided a breeze and the adjustable waistband hugged my body like an all-in-one. It also has two pockets for your phone and documents. The collar is soft and doesn’t chaff and overall this is a very comfortable jacket. One that is easy to wear whilst riding.
The downside is that the Rekurv C-11.01 Leather Combi jacket doesn’t automatically come with a back protector. Plus, the tapered sleeves are too long to be worn with any gloves other than over-the-cuff gloves. Which are rapidly falling out of fashion.
And the colours. As I have mentioned before I dress like a 13-year-old boy. Specifically a 13-year-old Alternative boy (Gen Z will call me an Elder Emo). So, I tend to steer clear of coloured clothing, and the bright blue and yellow are reminiscent of Tron. However, paired with the trousers and gloves it matched without giving ‘Power Ranger’ feels.

REKURV C-13.01 GLOVES
These lightweight goatskin gloves are soft, safe and work with touchscreen technology. They’re sturdy, comfortable and easy to use with the fiddliest controls.
These gloves come with:
- Hard shell knuckle protector.
- Stretch inserts on fingers, backhand and thumb
- Perforations on the backhand
- Palm reinforcement made of TPR
- Reflective material
These aren’t waterproof, so my hands did get wet when I was caught in the rain, but I could slip some liners on underneath so they’re warm enough for winter riding.
As I mentioned, over-the-cuff gloves are rapidly falling out of fashion, and these only fit on the outside of a jacket. They’re perfect to pair with the Rekurv C-11.01 Leather Combi jacket, but uncomfortable worn with any of my other riding gear as it creates a ‘wizard’s sleeve’.

Verdict
Overall, worn as a set this is a decent set of gear under the ‘affordable’ section. As I’ve mentioned, I tend to wear a more casual style for day-to-day, and as a commuter, this isn’t the most convenient kit. However, it is excellent for a warm day and I am itching to take this on track. I will update when I do.
