WIN on Sunday, sell on Monday comes to the Harley-Davidson accessory range, as a new, high-power King of the Baggers-inspired engine arrives.
Officially named the Screamin’ Eagle 135ci Stage IV Performance Crate Engine, the bolt-in (plug-and-play) powerplant takes H-D’s learnings from the King of the Baggers championship (KoTB) and tunes it specifically for personal use in all 2021 or later touring models. The engine requires no special fabrication to fit, and no special engine mounts are required.
Headlining the upgrades over stock, the new unit features a new 68mm throttle body and CNC machined intake manifold along with CNC machined and ported heads, stronger valve springs, and high-lift cams. High-compression forged pistons have been used, boosting the compression ratio to 10.7:1, while the engine is fed via a Screamin’ Eagle Ventilator Extreme Air Cleaner that is matched to Eagle Street Cannon mufflers if required – which they probably are in my eyes!
After this significant overhaul, the new engine produces a tyre-shredding 143lb-ft of torque at 3,500rpm, and 130hp at 5,500rpm. Harley claims this is around 28 percent more torque and 41 percent more power at the wheel than the stock Milwaukee-Eight 117 engine.
The engine also comes with a Harley-Davidson wireless Screamin’ Eagle Pro Street Performance Tuner, allowing riders to set up the engine wirelessly once installed.
