The Fantic Caballero 700 has been revealed by the Italian brand, as an expansion of the Caballero range with a new, higher-capacity option.
The engine is undoubtedly the headline on the Fantic Caballero 700. Increasing the capacity by around 200cc compared to the established Caballero 500, the 700’s motor is new to Fantic, but no new in general.
In fact, it is a very well-known motor produced by Yamaha, who have given to Fantic their twin-cylinder CP2 engine for the new Caballero. This is the engine which can be found in the Yamaha MT-07 and Yamaha R7, for example. This is not the first time Fantic has collaborated with Yamaha, but so far that partnership has been generally with regards to dirt bikes.
The result of taking the Yamaha twin-cylinder motor means Fantic has equipped the Caballero 700 with 74 horsepower and 70Nm. To slow the motorcycle down when the power has done its job, the Caballero 700 calls on a single 330mm front disc, and a 245mm rear disc - both of which operate with a Brembo calliper.
ABS is also engaged when braking, and is a cornering ABS system from Continental, who also provide the traction control system. The TCS itself is adjustable via three riding modes: Street, Offroad, and Custom, the latter offering the rider full customisation of thee electronic settings on the bike.
In order to accurately adjust such settings, a digital display is required, which on the Caballero 700 is a 3.5-inch TFT unit.
Further adjustability is available in the preload of the rear shock, which is provided by Marzzocchi, who also supply the 45mm USD front forks.
Dry, the Fantic Caballero 700 weighs 175kg, and has the capacity to increase that by filling the 13-litre fuel tank.
Available in “Iconic Red” and “Historic Blue” colours, prices for the Fantic Caballero 700 begin at €9,990 (£8,669 at time of writing, May 2023).
