The Ducati Diavel V4 has become the latest Bologna bike to be declared “Best of the Best” in the Red Dot Awards.
This 2024 award comes two years after the Ducati Diavel V4 was originally presented, and adds to other design-based recognitions for the bike including a Good Design Award and the Special Mention at the German Design Award 2024.
Further, this is the third Diavel to win the award, and Ducati’s fourth occasion winning the Red Dot Best of the Best award, after the 1199 Panigale in 2013, XDiavel in 2016, and Diavel 1260 in 2019.
The V4, launched in 2022, is one of a number of examples of Ducati moving away from the V-twin hegemony that existed in its roster for almost 30 years. Now, as well as the famous Panigale V4, the Diavel cruiser joins Ducati’s adventure tourer, the Multistrada, in using a V4 motor. The Diavel itself makes use of Ducati’s Granturismo V4 engine, producing 168bhp and 93lb ft.
Last year, Ducati launched the special edition Ducati Diavel for Bentley, a bike based on the Diavel V4 but also taking inspiration from the £1.5 million Bentley Batur. The Diavel for Bentley itself sold for between £58,000 and £71,000, making it one of the most expensive motorcycles of 2023.
The Diavel V4 is not the only motorcycle to have won Red Dot Awards this year. Honda’s EM1 e: picked one up, and so did the Yamaha MT-09, newly redesigned for the 2024 model year.
