Tommy Bridewell maintained his metronomic consistency in the Bennetts British Superbike Championship at Knockhill as he overcome a tough first day to end it with another podium race performance.
Predicting a more difficult weekend than of late on the Oxford Racing Ducati prior to the event, Bridewell’s fears were seemingly realised as he struggled outside the top ten in free practice, even if he’d salvage tenth on the grid in a wet qualifying as the highest-placed Panigale.
Keeping forward momentum in a race of several crashes, Bridewell climbed to fifth position during the first encounter, earning him a more advantageous starting position for race two.
He’d duly capitalise ono it to conclude the weekend with third position, for what is already his seventh podium of the season.
“It was certainly a little more challenging, but the team has worked really hard to get the results we have. We didn’t feel we would be as strong as we were, I struggled to get comfortable on the bike and get my head around the circuit
“Credit to the team they worked endless hours to get me into position to fight with the podium so to come away with a fifth and a third to get more points of the board makes me very happy with the end result.”
Despite losing the championship lead to Scott Redding, with 96 points margin over Christian Iddon in seventh overall, he is – barring injury disaster – well on course for a Title Showdown position.
